CHILD EXPOSED TO DANGERS OF LIFE

At just the innocent young age of 12, a young boy named Pip has seen something many Britons will never witness in three lifetimes – a disgusting and brutal convict in person. Sources say Pip’s heart and liver would’ve been eaten had he not returned with whittles and a file, forcing young Pip into a life or death situation. Should he steal from Mrs. Joe Gregary, his older sister turned caretaker, or report the convict to the authorities and risk getting eaten?

Such a dilemma given to such a young boy, one can only imagine the shame, guilt, and horror when Pip found himself sneaking downstairs at night to steal the items from his family. However, it is here the story transforms from a moral dilemma only a few ever experience into a unique and rare glimpse into the deep inner workings of our society. After the goods are delivered, the convict does not eat Pip but keeps his word and actually shows thankfulness for what Pip just went through. But that is only the tip of this iceberg, what happens next is so unexpected that one wonders why people like that are locked up in these horrible prisons.

When the authorities launch a search party to find Pip’s convict and another convict that escaped around the same time, they stumble upon quite an amazing sight. Pip’s convict is fighting the other, keeping him from escaping into the elusive marshes! When the situation is assessed properly, Pip’s convict didn’t want the other convict to escape because of Pip’s convict’s escape efforts. Such an honorable decision, and it doesn’t stop here. Shortly before being shipped back to the Hulks, the prisoner takes the blame and says that he stole the missing items from the blacksmith. In a way of repaying Pip for his kindness, he has saved him from admitting the shame and guilt from that elusive night.

Oddly enough, what the convict just did is probably something we shall never see be done by any gentleman or gentlewoman in our society.
